Position Responsibilities: Receives and reviews intake reports regarding the abuse of elderly persons. Responds to emergencies when necessary with supervisory support. Completes thorough investigation of abuse allegations, risks to elders and elder's needs. Evaluates the functional capacity, situations, and resources of the abused elderly person, or assists in arranging for evaluations including competency evaluations if needed. Pursues legal counsel and/or advice to obtain necessary legal action such as protective orders and guardianship through the courts.. Provides education to the community and other service providers on elder abuse mandates and issues. Participates in on-call beeper rotation for elder abuse hotline coverage as needed. Qualifications: *Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Human Services, required *Requires flexibility, availability and able to work a rotating work schedule for weekend beeper coverage *Previous firsthand experience dealing with high risk/crisis situations, previous knowledge and/or work experience in the Case Management or Behavioral Health field required *Knowledge of community resources preferred *Ability to make proper judgments, good written and verbal skills, and ability to maintain effective interpersonal relationships with staff members, consumers, and partners *Ability to actively participate in interdisciplinary team environment, critical thinking, solid communication and assessment skills are a necessary function of the position when responding to a crisis * Proficiency with Windows based Software, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, & PowerPoint *Professional demeanor & ability to handle confidential materials with discretion *Must have reliable transportation and valid driver's license *Bilingual speaking is a plus Hours 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday *GLSS is an affirmative action and equal opportunity employer.
